Branding

Branding lets a team's forms wear the team's identity instead of FormsUI's, so the person filling one in sees the organisation that asked for it rather than the software behind it.

Only teams have branding. A personal workspace has nobody to brand for, and a CivicPort community is branded by its own community settings in CivicPort.

Admins and the owner can set it.

Setting it up

Open the team on the Team page, find Branding, and switch it on. Then set any of the four settings and choose Save branding.

SettingDetails
LogoPNG or JPEG, up to 5 MB. A wide logo is scaled to fit
Accent colourAny colour, picked from a colour chooser
Header lineUp to 200 characters
Footer lineUp to 200 characters

The panel shows two live previews as you edit: the top of the form page, and the top of a generated PDF.

Uploading a logo does not change anything until you save, so an abandoned upload leaves the old logo in place. Remove takes the logo off.

What it dresses

One set of settings dresses two things.

If there is no logo and no header line, the fill page shows the team's name in its place.

It applies to old forms too

Branding is looked up each time a page loads and each time a PDF is made. It is never copied onto the form. So a logo uploaded today shows up on forms built last year, and re-downloading a submission from months ago gives you the new look.

Turning it off for one form

A form can keep its own look instead. In the form builder, a form in a branded team shows a switch named after the team, for example Use Acme's branding, above the appearance settings.

SwitchResult
OnThe form follows the team's branding, including the logo
OffThe form uses its own accent colour, header and footer. They start as a copy of the team's, ready to change

Switching it back on hands the form back to the team's branding.

Deliberate limits

Two things branding will not do, on purpose.

Imported PDFs keep their own look. A form imported from a PDF still writes answers back onto the original document you uploaded, unbranded. If you uploaded your own designed document, that document is what you want back. Branding still applies to the fill page and to its Summary PDF.

The logo sits on a plain background, not on the accent colour. A dark logo on a dark brand colour disappears, and nothing in the panel would let you fix it. Button text on the accent colour adjusts itself so it stays readable.
